Shirley's Diamond
After leaving a cocktail party, my grandmother
found an xx-carat diamond ring on the street.
She took it home and hid it in her sewing basket.
Later she moved it to a safe deposit box.
She left it there for thirty years.
First it was lost, then it was hidden.
It never really got to be a diamond.
